DONOSTIA - SAN SEBASTIÁN: We’re here, but shoul DONOSTIA - SAN SEBASTIÁN: We’re here, but should we have come? ❤️ YES! ✨

After a decade of wanting to visit, I finally made it to San Sebastián - and it really is everything I hoped it would be and more. Amazing people, amazing food, incredible scenes and full of Basque pride ❤️

Couldn’t recommend it highly enough - and we have agreed it shall be an annual visit now! Quick fire roundup for those wanting to visit. Obviously a plethora of Michelin restaurants and some pretty big hitters as far as 3* go, but don’t let that get in the way of the magic, super chilled Pinxtos goodness of the Old Town.

Eating:
> Bodega Donostiarra
🍽 Gilda & Ham tortilla

> Atari
🍽 Braised pork cheek, Salt Cod, langoustines

> La Cuchara de San Telmo
🍽 Morcilla & Suckling Pig 🐷 (OMG)

> Casa Vergara
🍽 Jamon & Tuna Anchovy Pinxtos

> La Vina
🍽 Cheesecake & txakoli wine

> Gandarias
🍽 Salt cod & piquillo pinxtos, Galician Dairy Cow sirloin & Tbone skewers

> Bar Nestor
🍽 Jamon, tomatoes, tortilla & Txuleta & txakoli

> La Taberna de Blas
🍽 Pan con tomate, jamon & tortilla for breakfast 👌🏽

> Casa Camara ❤️
🍽 the best turbot I have ever eaten, lobster hauled from the sea in the middle of the restaurant & delicious Albariño. Romantic spot well out of San Seb that is very very special.

Tips:

> Walk walk walk (more room for eating)
> Don’t over order, the temptation is too much but pace yourself and you can circle back
> Take the €4 Funicular railway up to the summit of Monte Igeldo for the most breathtaking views of La Concha Bay, you won’t be disappointed
> Eat the iconic dishes at lunch, you’re more likely to get a table and not caught in a mosh pit.
> Not great if you’re Vegan / Coeliac but some choices on menus
> Really pleased to report plenty of no alcohol drink options ( mostly beer) 👌🏽

The list is massive, I have some links in my highlights. Happy travels and happy eating ! Thank you for the best trip @jeremyfordchef ❤️😘

❤️💕☀️🍽✨☀️🥰❤️🦪💥🍾🍷🍹🥗🥫🌶🍋 🇪🇸 🥖 😍😌🎠🏖✅
Aloo parantha, pickle & yoghurt. Strong Punjabi br Aloo parantha, pickle & yoghurt. Strong Punjabi breakfast vibes after a very long drive back to Wolves to my Dad. This is a £3 breakfast of champions (masala chai out of shot).

There is something a bit special about having parantha midweek - usually the Sunday morning brunch of choice in our house growing up.

It was impossible to not eat too many and then fall asleep! This is at Lakshmi … FYI. If you know, you know and if you don’t … you’re welcome 👌🏽💥✨❤️

Recommendations Include:

> Mooli (Radish parantha)
> Methi (Fresh fenugreek leaves)
> Gobi (Cauliflower)
> Mixed (because why should you have to choose)?

I also need to say that Lakshmi are an amazing family run business, who make the best samosas in Wolves as far as I have tasted. Make sure you go show the love ❤️ you won’t be disappointed.

Dhal / Daal / Dal / Dahl - a little appreciation p Dhal / Daal / Dal / Dahl - a little appreciation post ❤️ As a young child I actually never enjoyed this magical dish.

It was often met with an eye roll, or a heavy sigh - not because it wasn’t made well, or utterly delicious, but because it felt way too familiar and too ‘regular’ to be exciting.

I have since then, learned quickly how much utter joy can be delivered with a bowl of this, and a liberally buttered roti. So many different varieties to choose from, so many styles to cook - but always tremendously comforting and I just never tire of it.

This is Masoor dhal finished with a few tempered curry leaves, garlic & cumin and a Punjabi portion of butter (think classic French portion- then add more butter 👌🏽) ❤️ Anybody else out there atoning for their earlier lack of affection for dhal out there? 🙋🏽‍♀️

Happy 70th birthday to my amazing Papa Hardeep ❤ Happy 70th birthday to my amazing Papa Hardeep ❤️🌈🌈✨💕 Xx

A tremendously difficult 2 years - but we are still here, full of love and trying our best to keep on keeping on. Here’s to you, your sense of adventure, your strength, your generosity, your love and your kindness and for all you have done for us.

When I was 9 my dad took me to Cadbury world, gave me a trolley, and told me I had 5 minutes to get as much chocolate in it as I could. He also said it was totally acceptable for my first car to be a cream egg car (iykyk) #legend

He would take me to lunch in Birmingham at what was then Le Petit Blanc, where I would order goats cheese soufflés thinking I was tremendously fancy, and we would share crème brûlée 💕

Always proud and always thankful for the time we spend together, love you very much ❤️ A very big hug to anyone navigating their “firsts” when grieving. It’s hard, but you’re doing ok - and that’s something.

And here’s to you Mrs G ✨✨✨ always thinking of you xx 🌈🌈💕❤️

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we’ve teamed up with our good friend @finneyclare – award-winning food writer and author of The Female Chef – to bring you a line-up of some of the UK’s best loved and most talented chefs. Five nights, five incredible women. Together they are, in Clare’s words, “rewriting the rules and redefining what it means to be a successful chef”.

London bound after a wonderful 4 days exploring NY London bound after a wonderful 4 days exploring NYC with my gorgeous friend Sam ✨💕

So many questions and recommendations from people - and as we all know - so much to eat, so little time!

This trip was different to my last, less reservations, less formal dining and much more walking about exploring, despite the big -8 chill (free cryo facelift anyone)?! 💫

I have tagged a few favourites from this trip if anyone has any more recs, drop them below in readiness for the next trip! We all know the starred restaurants which are incredible - but if you know of any local eats, do share!

We walked 20 thousand steps, pretty much daily and you see so much more of the city this way instead of taking cabs.

For all those who asked, travelling was breezy, just needed fit to fly antigen test, VeriFLY and nothing to return back to the UK. Every food establishment in NYC asking for ID + Proof of vaccination, so you could relax when you were in your restaurants.

What a city 🏙 until next time NYC ❤️💫🍎🌈🌈💕✈️🦞🥪✌🏽🔥✨🌭🍕🥯🥟🍜🍝🍽❤️💕🏙

Wishing everyone a happy Diwali and bandi chhor di Wishing everyone a happy Diwali and bandi chhor divas to all celebrating 🪔❤️

Diwali is the triumph of light over dark, good over evil - and knowledge over ignorance. Unfortunately there are some occasions in life where we may feel that the good hasn’t triumphed. Sometimes we have to choose to live in the light, with those we will always love the most.

On Tuesday we said goodbye to my beautiful mum. We were gifted an auspicious sprinkle of rain, which gave way to a rather remarkable double rainbow, a stunning manifestation of her energy.

Diwali now for me will always be a celebration of her light. Extra love - and extra light to everyone who may be missing their loved ones - and wishing everyone a healthy, peaceful and safe year ahead 🙏🏽❤️🌈🌈🪔 #diwali #alwayslove #alwayslight
